Florida Bar Committee Preference Forms Are Now Available
The Florida Bar News December 1, 2025
Michael Fox Orr: “Serving on a Bar standing committee is a meaningful way to contribute to the legal profession and make a difference in our communities’.
The annual Committee Preference Form for Florida Bar members seeking appointment to committees for the 2026-27 Bar year will be available starting December 1 in the MyFloridaBar Member Portal at member.floridabar.org. The form must be submitted by January 15, 2026.
President-elect Michael Fox Orr will make appointments to over 70 standing committees. Each committee’s function and current membership are listed on The Florida Bar’s website.
“The strength of The Florida Bar lies in the dedication and talent of our members across the state,” Orr said. “Serving on a Bar standing committee is a meaningful way to contribute to the legal profession and make a difference in our communities. I encourage every member to consider sharing their expertise and perspective by submitting a preference form. These committees are essential to advancing the Bar’s mission, and I look forward to the important work we’ll accomplish together.”
If you are currently serving on a committee and wish to resign, notify your staff liaison so that others may have an opportunity to serve. You can check your term date on your MyFloridaBar Member Portal page or on The Florida Bar’s Standing Committees page on the website. If you are eligible for reappointment, you must submit a preference form to be considered for another term.
Committee members are expected to participate in both in-person and virtual committee meetings. Meetings held in conjunction with The Florida Bar Fall Meeting and the Annual Florida Bar Convention are in-person only, with no virtual option. Absences from committee meetings may affect a member’s standing on the committee.
Remember, whether you are seeking appointment for the first time or reappointment, you must submit your online preference form by January 15, 2026.
