The Code of Kryptonite: Ethical Limitations on Lawyers’ Superpowers

September 17 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

$160

In-person CLE returns to Fall Meeting

The Florida Bar is offering in-person continuing legal education during its Fall Meeting for the first time in many years, giving attorneys attending the meeting — or those in Central Florida area — an opportunity to earn CLE while participating in Bar activities. Among the offerings is “The Code of Kryptonite: Ethical Limitations on Lawyers’ Superpowers,” presented by attorney Stuart Teicher on September 17 in Orlando at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld from 9 a.m.to 12:30 p.m.

Using superheroes and their powers, Teicher will examine the dangers of lawyer power and the ethical restraints governing attorneys.

The four-hour seminar will address which decisions belong to clients and which belong to lawyers under Rule 4-1.2, when withdrawal from representation is required under Rule 4-1.16, and how lawyers should apply the independent judgment standard of Rule 4-2.1 when clients do not want to hear honest advice.

The seminar is approved for four hours of general CLE credit and four hours of ethics credit.
