Cybersecurity for Smaller Law Firms: Practical Advice for Protecting Your Firm (and Your Own Finances) from Online Threats

20

COURSE NUMBER

6628

CLE

Approved by The Florida Bar for 1 hour of General CLE Credit including 1 hour of Technology CLE credit.

DESCRIPTION

Cybersecurity is THE hot topic these days, especially for legal firms.  However, most discussions about it either provide bland generalities with little practical advice or in-depth techno-speak that raises more questions than answers.  Daniel Cohn of Dynamic Quest will provide a high-level discussion – in plain English – of cybersecurity in general, the real threats that are out there, and the practical steps and technologies you should have in place.  The presentation is meant for owners, partners, and practice managers who may not be comfortable “talking tech” but need real-world information on policies, products, and solutions to keep their practice, their clients, and their staff safe.  Daniel will discuss what security threats your firm will likely encounter and how to deal with them.  This includes not just online threats but also cyberattacks that use social media, cellphones, and even in person “social engineering” to compromise security.  The information presented will also empower your staff to protect themselves and avoid identity and financial theft.  Lastly, Daniel will highlight some of the increased threats due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the upcoming mid-term elections, and other hot button issues, and what you should specifically be looking for in the days and weeks ahead.
